Since 2006, FINA organizes World Junior Swimming Championships to allow young swimmers to develop through elite level competition. Every two years, about 500 swimmers aged between 14 and 18 years old (girls between 14-17, boys between 15-18) gather together to test their skills among an up-and-coming field.
Rio de Janeiro (BRA) in 2006, Monterrey (MEX) in 2008, Lima (PER) in 2011, Dubai (UAE) in 2013, Singapore (SGP) in 2015 Indianapolis (USA) in 2017 and Budapest (HUN) in 2019 hosted successful editions of this major event. Check out details of the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championship [2]
